About Telecare Crisis & Caring Line

Telecare began in the 1950's in Sydney Australia under the direction of Reverend Alan Walker and the Central Methodist Mission. Within a few years other centres opened in various places around the world including the first centre in Canada in 1965 in Sudbury Ontario. ​ Locally, Central Fraser Valley Telecare was open for calls in July 1989. Over the years thousands of calls have been received from people needing someone who cared enough to listen to them. Now known as the Telecare Crisis & Caring Line, our service is available province wide through our toll free number. Our purpose is to provide telephone befriending, caring, and empathetic listening for people in moments of personal crisis or distress, to refer to other agencies which may provide a helping service, to provide a Christian based, telephone operated, crisis intervention service, to provide confidential, anonymous and non judgmental trained LISTENERS who respond in a caring spirit to the needs of any caller, regardless of race, creed or social standing, who may be facing personal problems.
